Current Employment
Currently, I’ve served as a Financial Specialist over 8 years in the Office of Head Start (OHS) / Administration for Children and Families (ACF). I am responsible for managing, monitoring and coordinating more than 20 grants with a budget of $200 million dollars. Duties include grants management cycle processing, cost estimates, budget formulation, managing and auditing grants. I also provide advice to Senior Management on federal government laws and regulations such as Performance Standards. I also conduct Grants and Contracts reviews ensure policies are being followed by our contractor during and after the grant cycle.
Past Offices Held
Prior to work as a Financial Analyst in the Administration for Children and Families, I began my federal career as a Management Analyst in the Health and Human Services Department (HHS) with the Emerging Leaders Program in 2005. During the two year rotations of the program, I had the experience to worked in the Office of the Director at the National Institutes of Health, Office of the Secretary, and the Administration for Children and Families. During that time, I learned different types of management and budget skills and participated in several projects within the HHS. Prior to my Federal experience, I worked in the private sector in Communications and Pharmaceutical field.
Goals and Objectives to Accomplish if Elected
Leadership skills, financial experience in grants management, integrity and positive energy make me the perfect candidate to accomplish the goals and objectives of the treasurer position. I’ve had the pleasure of serving as a Financial Specialist for over 8 years, and am currently responsible for managing a budget of $200 million dollars. As your treasurer, I believe my financial management experience will add value to the HEO. I pledge to maintain the duties listed in the bylaws and will provide recommendations to the Board accordingly, to ensure that the activities adhere to the budget.
